Boinc version

why wcg in the download section use link to boinc 5.4.11 ? http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_5.4.11_i686-pc-linux-gnu.sh

I think 5.8.15 will be much better in use...
for linux:

Re: Boinc version

For 1, the throttle part is still a mess and causing bad results and 'disk exceed' issues in the Linux & Mac versions..... the development version already progressed 2 iterations to 5.8.17 to give u the idea.

See this 'Known Issues' message from the Technical group of WCG:

Re: Boinc version

For those not yet upgraded to 5.8.15 and not aware of the new 'Simple View' available in BOINC (mentioned in March '07 newsletter), the below screen-print reflects the options, that used to be only accessible thru the website device manager profile or thru editing the global_prefs_override.xml file.

Amongst the settings is the discussed 'Throttle' feature, which as recommended should be kept at 100% for MAC and Linux clients until a later release. For the local Preferences to take effect the red circled item needs to be ticked, else the device will revert back to one of the assigned 4 standard website profiles (Default, Work, School, Home).
