Hi
I just checked some HPF2 WUS in my Result Status and realized that there were up to 20 people crunching the same WU. For example: la270_ 00126-- la275_ 00167-- la277_ 00109-- la405_ 00028-- Why such a high Quorum? Regards Maion |

----------------------------------------![]() . . . So, WCG needs 19 valid returns for a HPF2 set. For each in error or invalid an extra copy is send out. They are all unique! Just grouped for quality control and computation of the mean credit, starting from the 11th copy returned. #12-19 get the same credit as the mean for the first 11. For further details see 'member news'. Added: Here a direct link to the Feb.10 Member news announcement: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=11673

For those who have not yet looked at the new expanded Work Unit Detail, one of the things you will notice is that the validation start has been upped from 11 to 15. Valid copies returned from 16-19 will receive the computed points average of the first 15.
----------------------------------------Also, for clarification, the HPF2 project quorum is now made up of WU's send to all platforms (Windows/Linux/Mac), where in past they were separately distributed i.e. not a quorum of 19 send only to e.g Linux. This is an exclusive to HPF2.

Just to explain to those that still suffer from their machine generating inflated benchmarks and thru no fault of their own end up claiming much higher than plausible for a given piece of hardware: The same rules of outlying apply to HPF2. If anyone claim is out-with certain variable bandwidths it will be excluded from the 'mean' calculation and credit granted from the remaining 'mean'. If extreme (hi) outlier, half of the credit is granted.
----------------------------------------To the one recognising the below record: la134_ 00051_ 14-- Valid 04/03/2007 03:07:46 04/03/2007 12:31:32 3.27 222.7 / 76.8 The average of the other 14 was 76.8, which is what was granted to all 15. The 222.7 or 68.1 per hour of computation on a single core is considered to be in the no-fly zone. Recommend to verify the benchmark is within norm or obtain a stock copy for the relevant version of OS at Berkeley or here at WCG: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/reg/ms/viewDownloadBoinc.do?newMember=false The 5.8.15 or better client for Linux is confirmed to have benchmark standards close to being on par with the windows version.

Was just about to detach from WCG when I saw that you where running such an apparently large redundancy but came to the forum to seek enlightenment.
----------------------------------------From your link and post I understand that is not the case and that each host computes a unique WU if that's the case I will not detach, if I've managed to misunderstand please let me know. Edit: It would be nice if all the contents of ths fora came from a secure server or none of them did so that I wouldn't keep getting the annoying warning from windows. Hi Fullsoft,
You understand correctly. Each work unit of HPF2 is run with 20 small variations. A result that is very different from most other results is considered an error. So there is NO duplication. The forum server is secured. However, we allow members to link to arbitrary URLs in their messages. This is standard for almost all bulletin boards. Lawrence |

Edit: It would be nice if all the contents of ths fora came from a secure server or none of them did so that I wouldn't keep getting the annoying warning from windows. Had that annoyance for a while when logging in and staying on the secure.worldcommunitygrid.org server. Simply replace the secure part with www and you should not not be bothered so frequently. Somehow i managed to make it automatically revert back to the www address, but cant remember how i did this..... using Firefox 2.0.0.3 exclusively. cheers
