Authorization failed connecting to running client.

I recently switched to SuSE 10.2 running a KDE GUI formerly I'd been running 10.2 with Gnome (64 bit version btw), since doing so whenever i put cd /home/okkio/Desktop/BOINC/run_manager into the console it says that it can't find an active core client and tells me I need to run the program in the same directory as the client and asks me to select a computer. I tried just running the core client on it's own without the manager but i just get an looping error:

2007-03-05 15:16:56 [---] [error] GUI RPC bind failed: 98

anyone have any idea how i can fix this?

Re: Authorization failed connecting to running client.

Don't know anything much about Linux, but speculate that u need to give permission to port(s) in your security apps. Found this on a polish forum:

2007-02-03 15:32:12 [---] [error] GUI RPC bind failed: 99
gstate.init() failed: -180
22:27 do a netstat -ap to see if the port is open
sounds like the port is blocked by a firewall

BOINC uses port 31416 for RPC.

hopefully the experts hop along soon

cheers

I'm almost certain that if so, then there is already running a boinc, just kill it:

killall -9 boinc

then edit run_manager and make sure it looks like:

cd "/home/okkio/Desktop/BOINC/" && exec ./boincmgr $@

try again.

OpenSUSE 10.2 user.
