Question about CPU time

As the two tasks are computing/running, should the cpu time (as listed for each project) be running as a normal clock would? Meaning, I have FightAids@Home and Human Proteome Folding running at the same time. The times for each task run slow i.e. it takes 2 physical seconds for one second of cpu time. Is this normal? Does the cpu not run continously? I notice the cpu spikes in task manager...

thanks for any replies.

Re: Question about CPU time

No, CPU time is exactly that - CPU time.

I need to know two things. Do you have a dual core CPU? What setting are you using for % processor time? Set it to 100% and see if the behaviour changes.

Maybe the CPU throttle for your BOINC client is not set to 100%. If you are using a throttle that is less than 100%, the client will turn itself of for a particular period then on again that is why you are seeing all that fluctuations in the task manager.

I wasn't able to find the more detailed thread about how the client behaves when the throttle is less than 100%.
