Just looked at my stats and saw I completed 51 tasks and was awared 7419 points. The day before that I completed 21 units and awarded 7317 points. Something doesn't seem right about this but thought I would ask. Seems I should have been awarded more points on the 51 completed tasks since 21 completed tasks gave me 7317 points.

If the 21 tasks took 80 CPU hours to complete and the 51 tasks took 82 hours to complete, you got the answer..... payment is per crunching hour (hourly claim is determined by the benchmark of Dhry+Whetstone / 480).

Randy ![]() Hello! The point awarded to you depends upon the time that a particular unit takes to finish crunching a unit, . For example, the 51 units you've completed may have been Genome Comparison units which finish faster than the other projects. You've finished 21 units but was awarded an almost equal amount of points as the 51 units you've completed today because it took them the same time to complete.cio_redulla ![]() |

Are you running BOINC or UD?
----------------------------------------BOINC assigns an average number of points for three workunits. One day your computer might have been faster than the other ones. On another day it could have been slower. That's just a guess. Another is that points are based on computer "effort". You just finished 51 tasks, which was "easier" than the 21 tasks the day before. If you are running different projects, the difficulty of the workunits can be quite different, depending on the mix that you are working on. My slowest computer may take several days to complete one workunit. When it does, it can get over 2,000 points for that one unit. Post your assigned computer ID number here and the techs could look into it.

Which one do you want me to post? Randy

Hi Bearcat,
There is no need for your Computer ID (which is shown on the 8th line under the Messages Tab in the BOINC Manager). You get points awarded for the speed of your computer times the number of computer hours. So the number of results should not have any effect. A 4-hour result should give the same number of points as 2 2-hour results or 4 1-hour results. Lawrence |
