unexplaned computational errors

i am running wcg on 5 machines through boinc.
also i participate in lhc@home and seti@home on the same computers.

on one of my computers almost 75% or more of the wcg wu's get computational errors. sometimes after a minute, sometimes after a few hours. what i do with this system does not seem to matter.

this does almost never happen with lhc or seti wu's on the same machine.
on every other cpu wcg runs perfect.

the beta option should make no difference, it happens only on one computer.

wcg is smart enough to sent only one wu to this computer. while my other systems get much more work. (daily quota of 1 result)

my question: what could cause this?

btw, on this system i am not asking for wcg work anymore, in this way i do not think it helps the wcg projects.

in advance i would like to thank you for your answers.

Hi bas4world. I think this thread will get you started in getting some answers. Sekerob has posted a format to follow when requesting assistance, and I am sure this will help you give alot of the needed information concerning your computer in question to help get to the bottom of your problem. Click here

Then post again, and someone will be better able to assist you smile

Thanks,

Re: unexplaned computational errors

Two common problems can cause computational errors.

Excessive overclocking. These projects CAN be overclocked.
One computer here is an AMD64 Sempron 2.0GHz, pushed to 2.4GHz with no problems.

Once some limit is reached, results will be unreliable. Keep backing off until results are clean.

A bad memory stick can cause random problems, especially if you have two incompatable sticks of memory. They can sometimes be difficult to diagnose, but these crunching projects really excercise your computer and bring out these problems.

If you are unsure about your computer memory, download a free memtest86+ diagnostic program from http://www.memtest.com

This wikipedia link also suggests more memory test program sources.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memtest86

If it is not caused by one of these two problems, please ask again.

Since your results are unreliable, quota will remain at 1/day, in BOINC's opinion. When results are reliable, your quota will increase. I am running some Genome workunits, with a quota of 50/day now.

Aborting too many workunits will also cause a quota drop.
