Computer producing error results.

I have a dedicated cruncher (device id# 87480) that has started producing error results. It's an AMD Opteron 165, 2.8GHz, 512MB RAM. I've tested its stability for 24 hours with dual Prime95 and it passed so I'm at a loss as to what is happening with it. Here's the error log:

Re: Computer producing error results.

Hi Olypmic,

First, could u shorten the hyperlink or break it up in your post.... way off my screen, thus my reply will be as well too.

Second, do a search in quotation marks for "Access Violation (0xc0000005)" . There are about 10 post with that particular error.

Third, i believe prime95 tests, but the hardest workout is still a DC job. You say errors in the plural, but how many jobs failed? Have you ran any other like Genome Comparison? These are small and short, thus a test to see if the error can be replicated. Make it the only project in your profile to force a download (not now as the Sunday backup is running till about 11:00 UTC)

Let us know.

Re: Computer producing error results.

So far the errors have only occured with FAAH and none with GC. And not every FAAH produces an error either, maybe 2-3 per day out of 12. It's a dedicated cruncher with no monitor, keyboard etc so nothing could have been changed by me. It's running a basic XP SP2 install with firewall and auto updates turned off. There's no virus scanner or software firewall either.

The only thing I can think of is that either the BOINC installation has become corrupted or perhaps there are bad sectors on the hard drive. I'll try a few things but if all else fails I'll re-install BOINC.

Re: Computer producing error results.

I rebooted the machine and set "leave applications in memory while pre-empted" to YES. Now it's 48 hours later and no error WU's have been returned. smile

Re: Computer producing error results.

Olympic, what is your BOINC version, that goes with the 5.4.10 debugger reported in your first post log?
