I run the WCG using Boinc, and am getting tired of receiving work from just FightAIDS at home. I don't have anything against the project, but I wanted to spread my time out more. So I created a Boinc profile where I said I didn't want any work from FAAH and not to send me stuff from the other projects if no work was available. I'm reset the project in Boinc, but I am still getting FAAH projects, almost exclusively. what am I doing wrong?

I've just started WGC on my BOINC and I was just given about 15 units of work from the genome project, so they definately have work going.
I've unset FAAH from running on my system (uses too much RAM) so it'll be interesting to see if I'm given any FAAH projects in the future. |

I'm assuming u attached the profile u created (work or school or home) to the device in the device manager? To do that go here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/device/viewDevices.do and select a device, than in the drop down box after "Current Assigned Device Profile?" pick the created profile and hit save. Then in your BOINC manager go to projects and hit the update button. New work of the other projects will start coming once you finish the work already received or already assigned. Added: See knreed post below for further clarification.

themerrill,
You said that you reset the project. Resetting the project doesn't abort work already assigned to you. What happens is that it clears everything out on your client and then sends you work that you already had in progress. Since you already had two FightAIDS@Home workunits assigned to you these were sent to you again. You should be able to see that in the messages tab. The next new work you get from the server will be for other projects. If you really want you can abort your two current workunits and then you will get new work from the server that will not be FightAIDS@Home. Let us know how it goes, Kevin |
