Happens when at some point the system time was materially changed or messed up due e.g. BIOS reset or mistypo. You can try to finish the WU's as the real deadlines are held on the server. Your BOINC will just now process in Panic mode and (should) not get new work until all the 1901's are done or aborted i.e. operate in EDF mode.
----------------------------------------Retsof reported a case. He aborted the work if i recollect well.

Hey all,
I just upgraded to the latest BOINC software a few days ago and have been noticing something weird. It seems to occasionally go and download some image files off of a random projects servers, saving them to that projects folder in the BOINC directory. Does any one know why this is happening? Thanks. |

Yes, it's related to preparation for the new BOINC release. These files are used for instance by the Simple GUI that comes with BOINC 5.8. If you run Genome Comparison it uses various slides it shows, which are different per project. To see the Simple GUI select View on the menu, than simple view.

Your BOINC will just now process in Panic mode and (should) not get new work until all the 1901's are done or aborted i.e. operate in EDF mode. That happened when I was trying to do a test with moving BOINC work back and forth between computers. It didn't work well, and caused the 1900 due date problem with different system times, so it crapped out. Retsof reported a case. He aborted the work if i recollect well.  The UD interface still has the sneakernet advantage if you want to run on several offline computers and one internet computer.

I have just upgraded BOINC to *unstable* linux version 5.8.8. I'm having some problems with gui.

AFAIR I had the identical output (#1) from console running aMule (after _the same_ update of system as here - interesting!). Upgraded to the new BOINC 5.8.8 for Windows a few days ago. I've had folks mention to me getting the errors that I got today. BOINC is highlighting them in redand it appears that the problem is on the user end. However, I didn't notice these errors until after the WU involved uploaded successfully. Note the messages in bold prior to the errors. Thought I'd point this out so folks didn't abort those WU's.

I have the same errors about that time. I think there was a hiccup at WCG at about 5-5:20 PM Eastern today. Just a guess.
