Re: New Boinc Client Released!!!

Indeed this has been elevated by BOINC developers as the recommended version: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

Added for D_T_G: At the other end of the link above it says, that the Linux version is unstable:
5.8.8 Development version (standard GUI) (MAY BE UNSTABLE - USE ONLY FOR TESTING)

The error report: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/linux.php

Re: New Boinc Client Released!!!

Our general approach is to wait about 8-10 days after BOINC Releases their new version before we will update our site to link to that version.

Note however, that 5.8 has a lot of WCG Contribution, including the BOINC Simple GUI.

Re: New Boinc Client Released!!!

So when the site is updated with the new boinc release, will it be replacing the UD client as the default client now that the user interface is simpler?

Re: New Boinc Client Released!!!

Hi meshmesh,
No. Replacing the UD client with the BOINC client is a decision for the future. You can choose this as an individual - http://www.wcgwiki.org/en/boinc/migration.cfm

I run BOINC 5.8.8 on one computer and UD on the other.

Thanks, I followed the link just after announcement... In other words I was asking if the same version number at the beginning is 'unstable' for all platforms, then for some it becomes 'stable', so it means 5.8.8 for linux is going to be become stable as well, but later, or rather wait for next version?

Hello,

I've just switched to 5.8.8, hehehe! Anyway, what could have caused all my units to have report deadlines of 12/14/1901?

Re: New Boinc Client Released!!!

Hello Sek,

I closed BOINC, restarted my computer and changed the time in the BIOS. I started Windows and checked the system time too. But when I started BOINC, the report deadline is still 12/14/1901, sad.
