For past couple of days now my system keeps fooling around with the following WU (#...834)even through aborts, reboots, etc. It just keeps going, going, and going.

I'm having the same problem. I finally managed to get rid of them on one machine (and lost all that work time....) but I still have them on two other computers. The don't finish reporting and/or don't finish downloading.

I'm having the same problem. .... and/or don't finish downloading. You'll need to make a new post with slightly different title. Include a little history, machine ID #, OS name, Boinc file stuff , same stuff I did, etc, with some copied message lines you feel appropo. Also dotry a project reset before you post The secret system ghost will show up and somehow solve your problem. Me thinks. I've deleted/aborted all the stuff that wasn't working. I figure the problem was caused by power/internet outages lately due to the ice storms that have hit parts of the country. Even though I had several computers run WU's for nothing, as long as this was a one time thing due to weather (that no one can control) I'm not going to worry with it any more. I finally got rid of the stuff that wouldn't upload/download and have more WU's running on all computers now.

I finally got rid of the WU's that were doing the same thing for me. I aborted the task and then went into the tranfers tab and aborted the transfer. If that fails, you can reset the project.

I had 4 of these units also. I let them keep trying for 2 days and finally decided to abort them based on info in this thread. They only happened on one machine out of the three I have one outlet and the same switch, so I do not think it was either power or connectivity issues. All seems to be functioning fine now. Boinc 5.4.11. Windows 2000.

This is a bug in the BOINC client. It will be fixed in the 5.8.4 and higher versions of the BOINC client (this version is very close to being released).
