Re: Unable to attach to project

I recently downloaded BOINC 5.8.11 and am seeing something similar but different.

1/3/2006 3:41:57 PM|World Community Grid|URL: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID: 38578; location: (none); project prefs: default

WCG doesn't like my security certificate. I can force it to go to the site anyway to sign onto the forum. However, an upload is being refused.

1/4/2006 4:22:46 AM|World Community Grid|Reason: scheduler request failed
1/4/2006 4:22:48 AM||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down.

It may only be a problem with the WCG certificate. I uploaded and reported a couple of malariacontrol.net beta workunits on the same computer with no problem. I will see how it looks in the morning.

NEVER MIND

I think I see the problem. The BOINC change could have caused my date and time to go back to 2006. I have fixed that. My watch battery also died. Go figure. crying biggrin

Re: Unable to attach to project

Augustine just posted a link to the
Linux x64 Client that seems to include the secure parts: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...amp;lastpage=yes#lastpost

It's from an unverifiable source, so be careful to use it.

For peace of mind, one can always get it from the BOINC servers too: ca-bundle.crt.

angry Re: Unable to attach to project

2 Machine(s): Dual-core AMD
O.S. Suse 10.2 64-bit
BOINC client 5.8.16 (standard load from WCG)
ca-bundle.crt file is in BOINC dir
Date-time is set correctly
SSL is installed
GTK 32 bit libs installed
Previous install of 5.3.xxx worked fine (it's the ssl crap)

Have re-installed several times - NO CHANGE
What ELSE can I try please?

Thanks MikeE

Re: Unable to attach to project

MikeE,

Really think the secret is in that ca-bundle.crt certificate mentioned in knreed's post a few up and getting the system date / time right.

ca-bundle.crt certificate you can also get from the link provided in the post by emenezes a few up too.

let us know and we'll drill further.

and no the SSL is for security reasons, WCG's and Yours!

Make sure to have port 443 open on outward traffic to the websites under IP 129.33.89.133 and 129.33.89.134

cheers

biggrin Re: Unable to attach to project

I know the SSL is there for a good reason biggrin
Just a PITA to get it working. crying

Time WAS correct, and ca-bundle.crt was IN BOINC install directory.
Turned of the firewall(s) when I was fighting w/ it.
Will check ports, etc, tonight

Thanks MikeE

rose Re: Unable to attach to project

yay! thank you!
i'm probably way too happy about this -- the delirium is probably an effect of having been poking away at the config files for way way to long, thinking i would never get the thing to work.
but after hearing about the ca-bundle.crt, it all fell into place.
wee!

thank you thank you!
finally, the ancient computer i've rigged p as my fileserver can give something back to the community

Re: Unable to attach to project

I have this same problem, "Scheduler request failed: Problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?)", but I checked, and ca-bundle.crt is there in /opt/BOINC with everything else, and the permissions are 644. Any other ideas?

Re: Unable to attach to project

Hello Firewielder,
More information would help. Apparently you have just installed BOINC on a new system. What OS? Where did you get the BOINC installation program? Is the system time correct?

Re: Unable to attach to project

I was having the same problems contacting the servers.

Moving the ca-bundle.crt in to the working dir fixed it.

A restart of boinc was not required, when the file was moved in the program was happy the next time it tried the servers.
