I originall joined the project a few months ago but just now tried to attach. I successfully logged in to my account with user name and password however when I tried to attach I got the message account not found when using my username and password. I retrieved my e-mail from when I joined and tried using the account key that was mailed to me with the same result.
Any suggestions? |

Opposed to other BOINC projects, WCG is unique in that a new member first has to create an account on the website. The others create an account 'on the fly' with email account and desired password. Try again ticking the 'existing member' box, but do this with the antivirus and or firewall switched off. The url to use is www.worldcommunitygrid.org Dont use a http or https prefix.
----------------------------------------Can u please past any entries from the message tab in a post if still failing. let us know Added: Have u 'attached' any other projects successfully to the BOINC client? WCG has a slightly more secure handling.

I also can't attach to the project. I keep getting the following message:
2007-01-28 01:15:41|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Requesting 1 seconds of new work 2007-01-28 01:15:43||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 2007-01-28 01:15:43|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Scheduler request failed: problem with the SSL CA cert (path? access rights?) 2007-01-28 01:15:43|http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/|Deferring communication 3 min 16 sec, because scheduler request failed 2007-01-28 01:15:46||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down. BOINC ver 5.9.0.32 (by Crunch3r) The WCG folder remains empty. I use Windows XP and its firewall. Connecting to net via VPN. All other BOINC projects work fine. |

"BOINC ver 5.9.0.32 (by Crunch3r)"
----------------------------------------As far as WCG is concerned, this is an illegal version, not supported compilation and in fact does not exist according BOINC dev. This Crunch3r is an opti? They do nothing for performance of the science! Revert to a legal copy from what can be downloaded from the official sites, which contains also the proper security certificates to be able to communicate with the WCG servers.

Revert to a legal copy from what can be downloaded from the official sites, which contains also the proper security certificates to be able to communicate with the WCG servers. I'm running the official Linux client, yet it reports the same issues since I upgraded to the version 5.8.11. Please, advise. TIA ![]() |

It's been known for WCG required security parts to be occasionally forgotten from one or the other BOINC distribution, which is not to say that it's the case now. Have u tried reverting to the last working copy.... 5.4.11. e.g. Please post the specific message log entries of BOINC, so we can have a communal read. cheers

Possibly the answer is in the observation. It's been known for WCG required security parts to be occasionally forgotten from one or the other BOINC distribution, which is not to say that it's the case now. I see. FWIW, version 5.8.11 of the Windows client works well. I have to wonder though about x86-64, as there's no official client. In the recent ß test such custom-built clients got WUs, but not anymore now that they are supported for the production WUs. What happens now? Here's the message log: Project Date ID Message TIA ![]() |

If you built the client yourself then go look at:
curl/ca-bundle.crt in the source code. Move the ca-bundle.crt file into the install directory of your BOINC client. This file contains the public signatures of many of the trusted signers of SSL certificates (and in particular it contains the public signature for Entrust which is the company who signed our SSL certificate) restart BOINC and all should be good. Let us know how it goes. Kevin |

Restart BOINC and all should be good. Let us know how it goes. That did it. It's now downloading a WU. Thanks. ![]() |
