Hi,
I experience the following issue when my PC's was connected to Internet behind a proxy which ask authentification. BOINC agent is able to communicate with boincstat, seti@home but seams not be able to connect to WCG. Content of the log : 12/01/2007 15:55:32|World Community Grid|[file_xfer] Started upload of file faah1186_d014n296_x2BPZ_00_2_0 12/01/2007 15:55:33||Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 12/01/2007 15:55:33|World Community Grid|[file_xfer] Temporarily failed upload of faah1186_d014n296_x2BPZ_00_2_0: http error ... 12/01/2007 15:55:35||Access to reference site succeeded - project servers may be temporarily down. Proxy setting seams correct has I could exange with seti@home servers. At home, everything's work fine (no proxy settings). Does anyone have an idea ? (same happen with last stable boinc version and alpha release). |

Hello familyBrezillon,
----------------------------------------did your problem get resolved? Work was being performed on the servers, thus intermittently u could have had upload/download issues. cheers

Hello Sekerob,
The problem still persists. For information, the UD agent works fine in the same configuration. I read somewhere that the communication (from agent) with WCG was done in https. Is there some additional configuration to do for using the proxy for https ? C.U. |

C.U.,
----------------------------------------First step is to permit BOINC/BOINCmgr to communicate on ports 80(http) and 443(https) and internally on port 31416 (used by RPC protocol). Here are 2 links to some Firewall info: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewSearch.do?searchString=firewall http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=Firewall Cheers

Hello,
I can't manage the firewall ;) But I don't think it's a firewall configuration issue as with UD agent it works fine. Is there some configuration parameter's that I can change (in BOINC) to get some network log (more detailled than those in console of boinc) ? CU |

CU, not sure what OS u r on, but guess from the command line comment its linux.... here are all the once available: BOINC Daemon - Command Line Interface - Command-Line Options
----------------------------------------Edit: There is a little file that can be in the BOINC directory that will expand the detail that's being logged: cc_config.xml, but it's more designed for debug purposes. On windows GUI it filled up the message screen with reams of entries.

Hello Sekerob,
BOINC agent is running on Windows 2000. I run the following command : boinccmd -h usage: boinc_cmd [--host hostname] [--passwd passwd] command Commands: --get_state show entire state --get_results show results --get_file_transfers show file transfers --get_project_status show status of all attached projects --get_simple_gui_info show status of projects and active results --get_disk_usage --result url result_name {suspend | resume | abort | graphics_window | graphics _fullscreen} --project url {reset | detach | update | suspend | resume | nomorework | allowm orework} --project_attach url auth --file_transfer url filename {retry | abort} --set_run_mode {always | auto | never} duration --set_network_mode {always | auto | never} duration --get_proxy_settings --set_proxy_settings --get_messages seqno show messages > seqno --get_host_info --acct_mgr_rpc url name password --run_benchmarks --get_screensaver_mode --set_screensaver_mode on|off blank_time {desktop window_station} --get_project_config url --get_project_config_poll --lookup_account url email passwd --lookup_account_poll --create_account url email passwd name --create_account_poll --quit It don't look like the wiki page you send me. --version give : boinc_cmd, built from BOINC 5.8.2 boinccmd --get_proxy_settings return nothing !!!!! But the proxy settings were set with the GUI. Do you have an idea of how to set proxy settings with the command line ? CU |

I have exactly the same problem since I switched to BOINC. Can't be the client, since I have no problem with climateprediction.net, but on the other hand I also had no problem with the UC client...
----------------------------------------Edit: for testing purposes I just removed WCG from Boinc, readded it and still the same problem. I added the Rosetta project, no problem. Must be some strange combination of Boinc/proxy/Servers problem. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 22, 2007 11:21:02 AM] |

Since you are already using the 5.8.2 client, can you please upgrade to the 5.8.4 client and retry. If that fails then can you follow the directions on this page:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/client_msgs.php And set at least the following flags: <file_xfer_debug> <http_debug> <http_xfer_debug> thanks, Kevin |
