Rebooting previous processing zeroed

Rebooting computer World Grid never seems to keep any previous processing. Every time, seems to start from zero. Even after processing 8-24 hours at a time. Not sure if this is all projects or just certain ones.

Also, see some writing about switching this project to BOINC platform. Already have 8 projects attached to BOINC, would rather have the 5 projects (FightAIDs, Genome, Help Cure MD, Help Defeat Cancer, Human Proteome) that are running with World Grid put under one roof. Is this possible?

I am not worried about the credit, but if no individual projects under world grid are ever completed, seem like a waste. Already changed the CPU Throttle to nearly 100%.

Thank you
Fred

Re: Rebooting previous processing zeroed

hi siifred,

if you open your BOINC agent, attach project, type www.worldcommunitygrid.org and tell it you are an existing member, you just need to type your member name and password to get going on WCG with FAAH, HDC and GC. HPF2 is about to be launched on BOINC after hiatus and HCDM will be if phase 2 starts, but that much later this year.

As for loosing time crunched, seek out posts regarding check-pointing. If one is not reached, the agent will return to zero. This is the same in BOINC and many other Distributed Computing projects.... the nature of the computing problems complexity. As for exiting and booting, best to first exit the Agent, wait a bit for it to write all files to disk, then shut down or boot. Prevents damaging progress files, with would also cause for a job to start from zero.

Don't know what your system is, but acquaint yourself with the System Requirements
