Re: World Community Grid / BOINC down?

Just an open question... Can more than one project be run on Boinc without a third party account manager like bam.boincstats? I've never tried that. Are you using the same account name and password for Seti and WCG? That might affect it. The aforementioned account manager requires global password and Account name...

Having run multi-project since 2004, you can definitely run as many projects you wants on a client without the help of AMS. But, using AMS makes it easier to attach/detach projects on multiple computers at once, and to join new projects.

Same email/password, for WCG username, is only a requirement if uses AMS, if manually "attachs" all info can be different among different projects. Still, it's recommended to use the same e-mail so the cross-project-stats lines-up correctly, and to let global preferences propagate across all projects.

btw. The 'Failed to Attach to Project" message in the Boinc Account manager really does come up every single time I have attached a machine to the project so don't assume that you haven't attached when you see it.

Quick test revealed no problem to attach to WCG, and no error-message, but this doesn't rule-out you're getting an error-message even attachs successfully.

Same Email address is only required, if one wishes to roll up the various project credits in e.g. BOINCstats as it ensures the assignment of single x-project ID

Same email-address is also a requirement for any project you wants to use BAM as account manager. Also, global preferences won't propagate across email-addresses.
