well.. back to the original topic of this thread :)
maybe this message will help somebody i'm running boinc 5.7.5 and just got the task preempted at 100%. stopping other tasks didn't make the client finish preempted task, it just began downloading new work units. but after i restarted boinc service (i use service installation) everything went fine - task was finished and results were uploaded. |

Did it download work from the project that got held at 100%? If suspending in the Projects Tab all but the project with the 100% item, it should have continued work on the 100% item.

I have the same problems with the FAAH WUs and the BOINC client 5.4.9 and 5.7.5 on MacOS X.

Okay, have left a message for a technical view. My sentiment is 2 ways:
----------------------------------------1. I'm fine... i know it will finish the job when WCG has its turn again. Seen it a few times on my box and they've always validated....sometimes within part of a minutes, sometimes after a little bit. 2. I'd rather had it closed off, so any exiting or booting does not carry the risk of the job jumping back to a previous checkpoint, or get damaged (it should not). It accelerates the sending of the data files and complete quorum. cheers.

don't remember whether it was only faah for me or other projects too, but with faah it was (and still happening sometimes) - task gets preempted at 100% and it can stay preempted for 30 minutes (haven't waited more), other tasks from faah were already downloaded and were ready to run. after restarting boinc service task completes and gets uploaded just in several seconds. new task runs right after that 100% preempted task completes. (but i haven't seen yet whether i get errors in tasks results)

Particular if u have multiple projects, it can take until it's WCG's turn again. That than will be the time anyone has set it's project switching frequency. If 2 projects and 2 hour switch, it will at minimum take 2 hours before it returns to the 100% work unit.

Can you please confirm (or deny) it? If so, then it would be no client bug, simply faah preempted by some other app (according to the Short Term Debts). |

PepoS, if u go back to the 3rd post in this thread, it's been observed with HDC as well, but always switching to another DC project, not a WCG one. As never seen before on 5.4.9 or 5.4.11, considered it an alpha issue of the 5.7.x. U yourself report it on 5.7.5..... except for 1 Mac 5.4.9 case(?), all reports relate to the beta's.
----------------------------------------Since i could not locate a report at BOINC Dev Forum, have posted one in this thread: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=1288 It was already reported to the WCG programmers.
