Re: Estimating number of available home computers for WCG

So much talk about doing Distributed Computing on Graphical Processor Units..... PS3 has a Linux apparently with it which only uses 1 of the 8 or so cores the machine has. Rumor in a none-english article was, that this was done for a reason. Before anyone will be crunching on that it will be x-mas, next year..... if there is enough demand from PS3 owners that can be reached and are made aware of DC existance. That said, IBM, the sponsor of WCG who is making the PS3 processor for Sony, is looking at it.

Folding@Home is testing in on ATI Graphics cards for regular PC's.... Still lots of problems like it using 50% of the CPU on top of the GPU. Visit the separate threads on that subject.

thanks
