How do i get a few WU in advance with boinc?

Hi,

I currently connect to the internet only on weekends (at best only once every 4 days). I tried to set the "connect to the network every x days" in the device profile to 7, so that in the week, while not online, it will still crunch and on the weekend I will send all the results at once.

The problem is that it doesn't do that. It only gives me WU for about 24 hours everytime, so I lost a lot of precious time. In my other PC, which is more connected to the internet it has WU that are due in a week, and I can't get the same results with this one.

How can I configure the profile/boinc to have WU for the entire week?

I read that WU expire after 3 weeks (i think), so I don't see that reason why this can't be done.

thanks a lot!

For BOINC to give you the right amount of work, it needs to be estimating work accurately.

You can just leave it and hope it will find a better estimate, or you can check your duration_correction_factor and try adjusting it manually.

Re: How do i get a few WU in advance with boinc?

ZURP, as someone else addressed the same question in another thread 3/4 days ago..... it was explained that the maximum, per transmission download is 10 WU's. If u select the longest WU's project only, FAAH, which on a medium fast machine take 8 / 8.5 CU hours, u'd get 80 hours+ CPU work, provided BOiNC is convinced your machine can handle the 10 or less in the connect period u specified.

Manipulating the DCF is one way, but it gets continuously overwritten by actual performance related data. The alternate is suspending the WU's in the Task area 1 by one. It will give 10 more after 10 minutes. Than, when u go off-line, release the suspended WU's.

For good order, WU's under BOiNC are only 7x24 hours valid, because of the Quorum rule. UD agent does not use quorum, hence 3 weeks. If u use that combined with UD monitor, a 3rd party add-on, u can create as many work slots as u need to fill the 3 or 4 days time span.

Rule is, give it time to adjust to the connect figure of 7 days... eventually the cache should file up.
