UDMon: re-register on send/recieve

Hi.

Just startet WCG and installed the UdMonintor.
My problems is that everytime i send/recieve a slot, I have to re-register - why is that?

Yes, I've searched the forum, but can't find any witch similar problems :-(

The same happens if I reset a slot and try to fill it again.

Re: UDMon: re-register on send/recieve

Hi ASandal,

UD Monitor is an 3rd party software. That said, there are a few aficionados here that can help u. One thing to know is that if u have 6 slots set up, WCG will see each slot as a different device, thus u will have to register all, one by one as UD Monitor gets to them.

Make sure u return the work within 3 calendar weeks. If older, it will not grant points, given they will be too late.

One thing i read yesterday is, that given that WCG allows for a different profile for each device, u could assign a specific project to each slot like slot 1 Genome Comparison, slot 2, Help Defeat Cancer, etc.

Of course u use the "ud_mon.exe -wcg" command or the wcg bat file to start it, else it will not work proper with the WCG version of the UD Agent!.

cheers

Re: UDMon: re-register on send/recieve

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I use the wcg bat to start the program.
I have read about the risk of WUs getting to old. I don't think it will be a problem for me (if I can get around the re-register thing :-)
5 slots on a P4 3GHz 4 gig mem running 24/7...

Re: UDMon: re-register on send/recieve

There is a fair possibility, that security software interferes with the communications, thus the server wanting to re-certify the relationship. At least, the issue has not been brought up on this forum for quite some time, but seen it on the other UD grid reported recently.

cheers

Re: UDMon: re-register on send/recieve

ok. Too many issues with caching, I guess.
I wonder if BOINC supports caching ... guess I'll try it out.

As I understand, BOINC can run the WCG projekcts?

Re: UDMon: re-register on send/recieve

Yes, it does cache (work buffer from 0.1 days to as high u can without missing the 7 day hard-deadline) and much more like multi thread processing and transmitting while crunching and message logging and and and:

See the BOINC Support section for many Q's and A's. But please move follow up questions on that in a new thread over there.

thanks
