Rick, you should stop and exit BOINC before saving the file. Sorry I wasn't clear.

I finally got it to work again by stopping the program and editing the client_state.xml file. The estimate time to completion now starts at below 10 hours. The duration_correction_factor is now under 1. I will wait and see how long it stays there as I do not see any reason for it going to over 20 in the first place. The only other thing strange about the program is the only way it will start correctly is at boot time. If I stop the boinc program and than start it up again using the applications menu the program will not have a project. It is completely blank in all of the tabs. After a reboot it will again have the wcg project running.

The DCF value and many more in that file are continuously updated.... switch your PC off for 6 hours mid thru a WU that was estimated to be 2 hours and it will shoot up again....let your PC crunch continuously, and it will come down gradual.
----------------------------------------At BOiNC Dev it was pointed out, that state files can be written to almost 10 times a second.
