Man Plans, and God Laughs.
----------------------------------------So, IBM designs a new WCG forum based on an IBM template as WCG is no longer a part of IBM. ![]() |

Hi! My first impressions:
I like that the front page has much more information than the old one. I don't like that the forum link is so hidden. It really surprised me that the Community tab contained statistics instead of the forum and some contact information. The look-and-feel is not bad in general, but I'd prefer an option to switch to a dark theme. I never really cared about badges, so I don't have an opinion about them. The statistics are half translated. The texts are in Spanish, but the numbers are in English (with commas). As with the old statistics, I miss the "users with recent credit" / "computers with recent credit" that other BOINC projects have, and the results in GFlops instead of days and years. Also, there's no easy way to compare the popularity / computer power of different WCG projects. I never found the old statistics very useful, and it's the same for the new ones. |

In the meantime we can see the "My Project Contribution" overview when we scroll down. And the different columns can be sorted. Nice. And even better, the badges now show the previous runtimes. Thanks.
----------------------------------------(interjection: I miss a thumbs up smiley) ![]() As it seems the Website overall coloring won't be changed (I still don't like all the white space and am missing some color) I would like to suggest the following: If all the segments were coded as widgets, one could easily arrange them as they wish. That would at least satisfy the "Information" needs. Then we could move on to the "Look" needs. ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by aendgraend at Sep 21, 2021 8:25:36 AM] |

Link to the forums should be in the community pull-down menu, like on most other BOINC projects. And the quite ancient forums design doesn't fit to the quite modern looking menu bar at the top of the page.
----------------------------------------The overview of my contribution consists of lots of empty space and little information. No idea who thought people need 200pt (or so) fonts for displaying days/results/points. The rest about it has been already pointed out by others. A dark theme for the entire page would be nice to have one day. The only improvement I found so far is the possibility to display more results per page, the old limit was annoyingly low. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Link64 at Sep 21, 2021 8:54:28 AM] |

Thanks for the quick update on adding runtimes to the badges in the forum. Much better! I, for one, like the new badges.
----------------------------------------And also for adding the project-level contribution stats back to the My Contribution page. Maybe folks on these boards could be a little less abusive/histrionic and a little more supportive of the WCG team as they roll out the new site and work on the transition? It's gotten better in recent posts, but some of the earlier posts on this thread and elsewhere are downright foul. As the team has shown, they will incorporate constructive feedback and are reviewing the entire site in light of concerns about visual impairments. |

New website looks really good, I really like it overall, it's much more modern and looks nicer. Only one minor complaint: it's no longer easy to see an aggregate graph of your points/time/etc. across all projects (you can see individual graphs per sub-project, but I'm more interested in big-picture.)

Hooray, the project runtime and points overview table is back - also I really like the triple-click-action headers for sorting - Ascending, descending and then the same, only prioritizing Active projects at the very top!

Still, [code] does not seem to work in combination with [size], it looks as if a proportional font is used when they are combined:
OPNG_0079439_00098_4-- Linuxmint 728 Pending Validation 8/27/21 02:17:50 8/27/21 04:03:35 0.14 1.2 / 0.0 Same data with [size=2], still using the [code]-tag: OPNG_0079439_00098_4-- Linuxmint 728 Pending Validation 8/27/21 02:17:50 8/27/21 04:03:35 0.14 1.2 / 0.0 Same data, but now without the [size]-tag, using only the [code]-tag: OPNG_0079439_00098_4-- Linuxmint 728 Pending Validation 8/27/21 02:17:50 8/27/21 04:03:35 0.14 1.2 / 0.0 |

I very much like the new ability to show up to 100 results/page rather than just 15 as before. That really helps to find something at a glance rather than having to search through many pages. Thanks for that one!

Ah! Good! "My project contribution" stats are back!
Mostly I like the new site. It's now only the new badges that I don't like. :-/ |
