Yes, the 'moon landing of the 21st century' - a huge achievement for all involved, and if they thought their mission was hard up to now, the science that everyone is hoping will come out of it will be incredible.

Perhaps some trouble as grippers may not have deployed.

ITS REALLY A WONDERING AND FANTASTIC WORK ACHIEVEMENT!!!
----------------------------------------Meanwhile the France-Info Radio said the cost for France was 250 millions euros on the 1 billion total cost for Europe if you divide by 60 millions french ,you get a cost of abt 4 euros for the 10 years so in the end 40 cts for each frenchie So is fundamental too much expensive ?? Let the detractors bark and consider how much is spend-or wasted- in soccer, tv dumb series etc,etc Fundamental research is ESSENTIAL! ![]() |

I can't wait for tomorrow to see if the team has worked out exactly what happened during the landing(s) and if Philae is going to be able to do all the science that was planned for it. I just wish the coverage was a bit more engineering/science and bit less politics, but I guess that's Europe ...

Where is it now on 67P?
http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-30034060 'Engineers say it may have bounced hundreds of metres back off the surface after first touching down.' Maybe that iceball has more 'attraction' to it than thought. |

Not sure it landed so much as crashed...its probably upside down in a crumpled mess of metal and silicon by now. At least its still sending signals which is hopeful.
