confused Joining multiple teams

Hi.

I was wondering... Why can't you join more than one team and produce points for all of them? Is this because of some math regarding points? Or software limitations?

Re: Joining multiple teams

Why can't I vote for several candidates for the same office? Nobody ever explained why to me. I guess I never asked because I am too stodgy and uncreative.

You can if you create another user. Each user must must be unique. It has to do with data integrity and how the results get audited. If the same user could join multiple teams at the same time how would you keep track of anything ? Not sure I even see any point as to why you would want this.
Cheers

@elgregor

You can perform team-hopping, i.e. quit one team and join another team as often as you like.

Maybe you should check out Base Camp - the team that isn't
They're a team that visits other teams - currently on a visit to Team Multiple Sclerosis

Re: Joining multiple teams

Scrolling the bottom section of the My Grid page for the Base Campers will likely be a lengthy event. Wonder what the individuals record count is on Teams having been hopped on.

Re: Joining multiple teams

I'm a reletivly new camper but I've been on 10 or so treks to different teams. If you join the Base campers, the captain keeps track of this and even hands out merit badges for each trek.

Let's say that user is in team Germany and team Ubuntu Linux (because he wants to promote both). User produces a valid result. Score gets added to both teams.

It has to do with data integrity and how the results get audited.
Thanks for clarifyng :)

Re: Joining multiple teams

For sake of argument, you would agree that if you could be member of 2 or more teams, that your points/results/time has to be split equally. In analogy to both your teams being in the same challenge, going to the Kentucky Derby with 1000 in your pocket to bet, you can't put the 1000 on both [potential] winners, at least not here at our local ippodromo ;o)

Over here you can. If you have one certain horse, you back it to win. Two possible winners you place an 'each-way' bet on each. Each Way bets
