User uploads

Post by cousinjay »

I'm really confused when it comes to adding pictures to the gallery. Among the issues, I have activated user uploads in a gallery.

The user selects upload, picks a file from his computer and starts the upload, but the picture is nowhere to be seen.

I"ve even connected with an FTP client and it's just not there. But here's where it really gets weird. A repeat effort to upload the same file produces a message saying "file already exists"

Whats wrong?

Hi, which upload you mean? In Frontend (upload and add images to gallery - https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... ser-upload https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... ess-rights )

Or in Backend, where there are different ways how to upload images (ftp, standard, multiple, java, ...): https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... ing-images

After upload of images to your server, you need to add them to the system: https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... ing-images https://www.phoca.cz/documents/2-phoca-g ... categories

File already exists: Yes, when some file exists on the server, such cannot be replaced, because it can be used in another categories and this can cause unexpected results.

Where does the user upload the images? In frontend or in backend?

Jan

Actually, this issue has been solved in another thread. I discovered that the photos were there but not activated, and thanks to Benno I now know how to have them activated automatically when they are uploaded.

Thanks for your efforts in support this wonderful system.

I'm still struggling but this is one less issue on my mind.
