Using phoca gallery and it is wonderful - except for one thing...
attempts at uploading photos on back-end results in the error message:
Not a valid image
yup. that is it.
I can ftp in images to the phoca dir - and the set them up within the phoca interface.
media manager in joomla 1.5 uploads images ok - can create directories etc.
anyone else experience this ?

Hi, which image type did you upload?

Re: Not a valid image
Hi,
I have the same problem. However, it works fine on my local system (latest WAMPserver & Joomla! 1.5).
It fails in my providers environment.
Any jpg image fails (I haven't tested other formats yet, but the failing images do work on the local system).
It doesn't matter if I use the Java or standard upload. I haven't tested the Flash uploader yet.
Does this help?
(Jan, you may use my 'provider' version if you want to troubleshoot).
bye,
Rudi

Re: Not a valid image
maybe there are some problems with permissions or ownership of folders where the images should be saved (maybe with tmp folder ???)

Re: Not a valid image
Jan,
It happens with any type of image, with both Java and standard upload.
It works on my local wamp, but not on the providers webservice.

Re: Not a valid image
Colin,
For the FTP workaround: in which directory do you FTP the images and how do you set them up in Phoca?
I can't figure it out.
Thanks,
Rudi

Re: Not a valid image
Hi,
I figured out how to upload the images manually with FTP.
Phoca Gallery works fine now, except for the upload feature, that keeps complaining about the images not being valid.
Would be nice to have it fixed, but I can survive without it.
Thanks,
Rudi

Re: Not a valid image
Hi, you can upload images into Phoca Gallery via:
- Add function (flash upload, java upload, standard upload)
- Multiple add (flash, java, standard)
- Frontend ( java, standard)
- media manager or other manager
- FTP, etc...

CHMOD is 777. Enough diskspace. Newest Phocagallery version. Joomla 1.5.6.
Any solutions?

Re: Not a valid image
i had the same problem... on large images (~2MB)... when i resized the images (~120KB) it uploaded just fine... i'm not sure why, but i even tried uploading a single large image (again, thr ~2MB file) which was well under the 3MB limit, and i still got the "not a valid image" error... what gives?
