Site with 2 different language menu (modules) problem

Post by agyar »

Hi.
I have a site with 2 different menus (only one visible at a time) in different languages pointing to articles in the site.
Each menu (and its' submenu) basically point to articles in their respective languages.
The default home page is in English. The user can switch languages through flag icons.
The menus are assigned to the articles in their languages from the menu module manager.
Both menus have an entry (English and Russian) pointing to Phocagallery category view (set in the menu manager).
The problem is that when entering the category it works (menus don't change) but once inside a category the language changes to always the same. Phoca gallery back button points to one language only too, and doesn't remember the parent. So for instance I entered the gallery in English, after viewing inside a category a listing of pictures and pressing the back button I am reverted to Russian. Or vice versa. It all depends of my last saving in the menu manager or my tweaking in menu module manager. In module menu manager I can select display menu everywhere but if I do this for the 2 menus then they both appear. Even when creating an article and then displaying categories from there with the help of Phocagallery Article Plugin it does the same. Once inside a category it goes back to the same language all the time irrespective of the previous language it was entered with. I have tried creating also hidden menus for the categories but it doesn't make a difference.
Thank you for any ideas.

PS. I am not trying to install different languages into Phocagallery itself, my concern is about my site's menus.
So basically everything works fine but only for one language. If the user has chosen the other language on the site he will be forced out
and switched once he has entered a phocagallery category.

Hi, hmm, did you try to set two different categories in Phoca Gallery

- one for russian language
- second for english?

and set menu links to russian category and to english category?

Hi.
Thanks for your reply.

I tried doing so directly linking to a Russian and English category from the menu manager as an external url link. The problem is that when I enter a category then there is no more menu on the site and it also doesn't come back with the Phoca's back button inside a category. I have no control over url formation for categories and on the back button's url from them (categories). My menu is lost. The end of the url string that keeps the menu is "tmpl=component&Itemid=xxx" where xxx is the menu id number. If I link a menu to Phoca Gallery category in menu manager with the option "Select a menu item type" and choosing Phocagallery, it works and keeps the menu but only with one language.

Is it possible for Phoca Gallery to remember the menu Item Id assigned when linked from the menu manager "Select a menu item type" from different menus, thus reverting to the same component ID number parent (in this case menus in different language) ? It seems that it can only assign itself to one template component ID and not work with more.

Much appreciated.
