PhocaGallery vs Sourcerer error

Post by bihler »

After upgrading com_phocagallery from 3.1.5 to 3.2.0, when I display one of the pictures in my gallery, I'm now encountering the following error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function get() on a non-object in /home/mysite/www/plugins/system/sourcerer/helper.php on line 68

Everything appeared to be running fine before the upgrade. Has anyone else seen this problem? Also, why would phocagallery be generating a sourcerer error? Anyone have any ideas as to what's going on? The only place I'm using sourcerer is in an unrelated article where I've embedded a php script to retrieve river flood level information.

Thx.

No one has any ideas or suggestions?

I posed the same question on the sourcerer forum, their preliminary analysis is that PhocaGallery may be triggering onPrepareContent for plugins in a faulty manner. I haven't found the hook yet, but since I'm relatively cautious in my testing methodology for upgrades and phocagallery was the only change/update I'd made, their theory sounds at least plausible at this point.

In looking at the differences between the current and previous versions of phocagallery, the vast majority of the changes appear to revolve around the multibox functionality.

Admittedly, I'm a novice when it comes to debugging joomla, so if anyone have any ideas, I'd appreciate any insights you might have.

Thx

hi, did you update all your phoca gallery extensions (e.g. the slideshow plugin) to the same (latest) version?

Reko, thanks for your response.

The only phoca elements I currently have installed are:
Phoca Gallery Component 3.2.0
Phoca Gallery Tree Module Module 3.1.2

And they both appear to be as current as it possible.

Also, I should have described my problem a little better. I have a page of thumbnails for a particular photo category, when you click on one of the thumbnails it pops up a box of the full image. At the top of that image display box is the error message I described originally - at the bottom of the page are the slideshow controls that'll let me click forward and backward through the rest of the images on the underlying page. Does that help at all?

Hi Jan,

Thanks, here's a link to my testing version:
http://www.pnwexplorer.net/fdw/index.ph ... Itemid=110

Click on any of the thumbnails, at the top of the box you should see what I'm having problems with.

Thanks again!

Hmm, really not sure what can be wrong there, is the plugin some default plugin, did you ask the plugin developer?

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question? The "plugin"? If you're referring to 'sourcerer', it's not a default plug-in, it's a plugin allowing php within an article. They've already looked at the problem and believe, at this point, that the problem resides with the phoca component. The problem didn't show up until I upgraded to Phoca Gallery Component 3.2.0.

ps. I tried to reply as soon as I got your update, but your forum said:

So, sorry for the delayed response.

No problem, but did you get any other information what can be wrong there (if you got info, it is within Phoca Gallery, you should get info what exactly is doing it - because from the error message, I see only error in the plugin - so really cannot say which part in Phoca Gallery - over 70.000 lines of code can be in conflict - for now I don't know any other plugin be in conflict with Phoca Gallery this way, so really no idea until I get exactly information :-( :-( )

Hi Jan,

Sorry, the only information the sourcerer folks were able to offer was "PhocaGallery may be triggering onPrepareContent for plugins in a faulty manner."

The only thing I know is that the problem showed up when I upgraded to v3.2.0 of the core gallery component, if I go back to the older version - the world is happy.

I haven't seen any other problems with PhocaGallery's functioning anywhere else - just when you click on the thumbnails as I showed you.

I've been trying to use Firebug to see if I could find anything, I've also tried turning on php debugging within Joomla - but so far I'm not seeing anything obvious as to what's really happening.

Do you have any suggestions as to where else I might be able to look or something else I might be able to do to help debug this? (please note, I'm on a shared host, so my capabilities are somewhat limited).

Thanks much for your help (and a really great product).
