Can't See Categories Front End, Can't Add Users

Post by TBC »

I've looked around a bit in the forum but can't seem to locate the answer to my question. I'm using Joomla 1.6 and Phoca Download 2.1.1.

When logged in to the front end as super user I cannot see the categories, thought that I might have to add users manually but there's no add icon in the back end in the users tab.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi, where exactly you cannot see them, in which view?

In the front end, when trying to upload a file none of the categories are shown.

In the back end (administrator) I cannot add users. (control panel > users)

Also, in the file view in the administrative section (control panel > files) the page doesn't fully display and I get the following error: 500 - An error has occurred.

JHtml: :batch not supported. File not found.

Hi,
In the back end (administrator) I cannot add users. (control panel > users)
You cannot add users in Phoca Download as Phoca Download uses Joomla! users - it is a part of Joomla! so users can be added in Joomla! user manager.

In Phoca Download you only see users who have uploaded something to Phoca Download.

500 error - enable php error reporting and debug mode to see what error you get there:
https://www.phoca.cz/documents/16-joomla ... rs-on-site

Batch method is supported since Joomla! 1.7

Displaying categories in UCP in frontend - only published categories where you select the user to have upload rights are displayed there.

Jan,

:?:

I'm on J1.7 and the latest php/mysql stacks, using PD2.1.1 and am having the same issue.

My PD Categories are all set up to have the same 3 users assigned to both Upload and Delete rights, for just two categories (All.... and Current Week..... categories) and I have tried both in combinations of making each a root of the other, and both being their own root (no parent in other words) and all combos have no effect.

Frontend upload page, the Select Category dropdown has no categories to select.
Logging in and out has no effect.
Rights to PD Categories overall are Public, and the Files are all set to Registered.

From frontend logged on as superusers - who also happen to be the assigned upload/delete rights to the PD Categories themselves - still cannot see any options in the Select Category dropdown.
Additionally, the menu item itself on the Joomla side is set to Special so that we admin/superusers are the only ones who can get to Uploads.

I believe this would be classified as a conundrum! :o

Also, we have a lot of files - close to 100, and soon it will be more. They're also large files - maps for Call of Duty 2. So, messing up the current categories and blowing it out of those files so I would have to go into each one to assign them all to the All.... category again would be some really high maintenance I would love to avoid if at all possible......that aside. How do you propose we fix this?

I am very adept at hacking into code.....just aim me and give me the syntax if its needed somewhere. 15+ year IT Jedi vet + 15 J! sites to date from 1.0 to 1.7's and everything in between.

Also, while writing this I had a thought to go run some maintenance optimization's such as clean temp files, fix perms, and also ran a repair and optimze tables (mysql) maintenance tasks. Logged out of the front-end, and back in again, then back to the Upload Files page - and the Select Category dropdown still lists just that - - Select Category - and nothing else.

:x

I am looking forward to working with you on this.
Thank you very much in advance!

Regards,

Just wanted to add that through the backend admin, we can do everything that is necessary, but this only works for the superusers only and we want to expand this to other non-Joomla-savvy folks who moderate and admin in our clan and they're who won't be able to upload maps until we resolve whatever is causing this.

So for whatever reason, the frontend Upload page cannot see what the backend can. :?
