Error: Wrong folder name

Post by mesmer8 »

Greetings all. I suspect this is an easy fix, but I can't figure it out and a search of the forum hasn't helped.

I've got a new 1.7 site and am trying to upload files from the back end. I go to phoca download-->files-->new, then choose "select file." Up comes a window where I can select the file I want, as well as a small text box where I can stipulate which folder that file should be put into.

In the text box I type a name for a non-existent folder, then click "create folder." This gives me this message:
Error: Wrong folder name
How can it be the wrong folder name when I just gave it the correct (new) folder name?

Moreover, it seems that in this same dialog box, subdirectories within Path: public_html/jupgrade/phocadownload/ are recognized (i.e., they're show at the top), but can't be used. For instance, public_html/jupgrade/phocadownload/ has two subdirs--"userupload" and "S 11"--both of which are shown and both of which contain files I put into them via filezilla, but if I click on them in this dialog box, the "S 11" directory won't work.

Ideally, I would like to upload files in groups, sending them to their respective new folders. It seems like PD should allow me to do this instead of using filezilla...but perhaps I'm mistaken?

Thanks in advance for any help!

[SOLVED] Turns out both problems had the same solution: directory names can't have a space in them. When I changed "S 11" to S11, all the problems disappeared.

Onward!
