May I Use 2 or more server for my website & files?

I want to create a download center and it came to my mind,what if I estabilish my joomla website in one server and use another server for my files.(or eve n2 another servers for my files..)
Is it possible to do this?By the way I think it is possible but I will lose the Download counter(it means how many download for every files..) Is it true or not ?
Any suggestion ?and another question about create backup for all files and joomla.. because there are very Big files and it is around 1Terabyte data what can I DO?
Is it anyway to Back up joomla seperately from files? and files seperately from joolma?

You can store both - Joomla and the download files - in separated paths, so you can backup only the specific path.
About the use of a second server: You could set up an external link if you add an file in PD.
The filename would be only the filename from the external link.

Example
External link: http://example.com/downloads/someting.zip
Filename: something.zip (manually added - do not use the select file dialog!)

The download counter should work because PD is involved requesting the files although they are hosted on another server.

I currently use J1.5 and have my downloads stored on an dropbox server. When you download one of these files, nothing is going to be count. Maybe this is already a feature in PD for J1.6?

You're right! PD can not count these downloads. I've tested it with Joomla1.6 and PD2.

Hi, yes, external links are direct links, and if you have a direct link to external server, it is not possible to count the download, this must be done on external server as the server where the Phoca Download is running, get no request then.
