Download Problem in IE8 with inde.php File

Hi,

i have a problem with the download in the Joomla 1.5x Version in Internet Explorer 8.
In Firefox 4 it works fine when i vlick the download button.
Under IE8 it trys to download a index.php file with a error message!?!?!?
Jpeg's are working. I habe problems by downloading pdf's, doc's or ppt's.

Hi, I have the same problem! Downloading from our company website with PD is no problem in IE8, but when I click on a PD link on our intranet, it wants to download index.php. Cannot download index.php from extranet.scholtens.eu. In FF it's working fine, so it should be something in IE.......but.........I can download via PD on our company website (www.scholtens.eu) in IE8!!! Strange huh?

Hmm, really no idea, try to check the path to your intranet, try to check your intranet settings, if there is no some limitation, etc.

I am also getting the exact same issue, but only on IE8. I was sure this was working months ago when I installed it but now it is not. what could possibly be the reason that the code that generates the download link fails to do so only on internet explorer. is the code not php? and is php not run on the server and not on the clients browser?

Hi, regarding IE it is very difficult to say something or to discover why IE is working like it does. I do different tests on my test servers and get no problem there, so really no more specific advices I can make there

I solved the problem that I was having IE 8, it seemed that when the site when to https:// the site would no longer allow downloads. I prevented it from going secure and problem solved. Just wanted to let people know.

I saw an article today which explains that if the option "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" is enabled in IE
ssl secured downloads are not working properly.
