play all files, make only a few downloadable

Hi there,

I am totally new to this board (i use joomla for fun and do not work with it professionally) and have a question for a website I am putting together for some friends. We would like to put some mp3 files on the site so people can listen to them. We would also like to make some of them (but not all) available as downloads. I installed phoca download 1.3.6 some months ago (I am aware that there is a newer version but am not sure how to update the old one...?).

Right now, in the front end, each files has a "play" button and a "download" button and for the life of me I can´t seem to find if it is possible to somehow deactivate the "downlaod" option anywhere for some of the files...

Any clues, anyone? Any help would be very much appreciated, thank you!

Hi, no you cannot deactivate download button, as download component it is supposed, there is a download button.

But you can make the download e.g. for registered or for other group.

So then the download will be not possible.

Hi people!

This is my first time of hearing about the Phoca application. I am using an MP3code before. How may I able to download the application? My friends told me that Phoca is more accessible and accurate than the recent application I am using. Can somebody please Pm me as soon as you get to my post?

jan, i just tried out your suggestion, but if i change the settings of a file to "registered" then the song can´t be downloaded, but it can´t be played/listened to either... ?

is there any way to change this so some songs have a "download" AND "play" button and others only a "play" button?

Hi, if you set that the file can be download only by registered but displayed for public, then you can play the files (preview files) but not download (downloadable files)

See file edit, there can you set: display unaccessible file.

hi jan,

sorry for bothering you again

if i set the file as "registered only" and check the box "display unaccessible files" in the file settings of each file then the front end still displays a download button, if i click on it then the system asks me to register. i would like it so that some files don´t even show the download button. is that possible at all? what am i doing wrong?

aikichick - did you ever figure out how to make files play but not download? I am trying to do the same thing because of copyrights to music. Perhaps a different plugin?
