Direct link to file from menu

Hi,

I know you can link a menu-item using File layout but when I use it.
Even when you put mark "Direct Link", you still see a detail-page with a download-button.

Is it possible to link it straight to the file without seeing anything so when you click the menu-item you see a popup to download the pdf-file for instance.

Hi, then some download feature must be customized in menu component of Joomla! Menu link output is produced by Joomla! component, so this needs to be customized there

Or you can use e.g. module to do it ???
