Last File , Last Category in home page

hi , how can i show X number of my last file or X number of my last category in first page of my site (like module) ? is there any ready module for this ?

oom , so it can be a request for this usefull new Feature , module for show last file's . also last catagory . also hot file's

so if phoca download can get me rss for catagory or file's i can solve my issue with use rss-reader module . phoca download have it ?!

thank you jan . its good for files . can i limit it to show last file's of particular section('s) or catagory('s)? or change total of them?
