I tested all J! guestbook (and comment) extension and my choise is PG. I really like the ability to use any colours I want so to perfectly integrate it into template.
Bug: Firefox 2.0.0.14 (the last stable) doesn't show well smileys popup.
Can you add "show image" to your request list?
