Setting category parent to self causes problem

One of my website administrators was editing a Phoca Download category and set its parent to be itself, which caused a bug in the whole system. The category became invisible on both the back and front end.The component should not have allowed that to happen. Thankfully I was able to edit the database directly to sort that out. Mind putting in a fix for that please?
