Download file to open in new window

Hi;
I am would like to open a new window (or at least tab) for the download file, but cannot find where to do it!

Hi, sorry, I don't understand, if you click on download, no window will be opened, but only the download manager popup ?

I have a menu which indicates in 'Parameters Component' - External Download Link = Blank
I have the same indicated on the articles that are located in the phocadownload folder
When you go to the menu, select "Download PDFs" it gives you a page indicating the Section(s) with the Categories. When you click on a category, it gives you a list of articles.
When you click on the article name (or on the download icon) it open in the same window/tab.
I would like it to open in a new tab/window so that the visitor will not loose the place they were in.

Hope this make sense.
Using Joomla 1.5.9 and com_phocadownload _v1.0.6_beta

and when they click on the link, they leave the site as PDF takes over the whole page. I would like the PDF to open inside joomla.

Hi, now I understand...

If you use direct link to some file, then there don't work rules of your site but rules of site where the link goes... so if you will use direct link into some other site, this site needs to have some behaviours to not display PDF files but give them to download...

see e.g.:

There are direct links to joomlacode.org... joomlacode.org gives the files to the browser for downloading so everything is ok. But if it does not, then files will be not downloaded

If you want to give PDF files for downloading:
- you need to have this files on your site, so Phoca Download rules work
- or you can use direct link to some other site but this site needs to support downloading PDFs

Hi, please let me know the site, where the links are displayed...

If you will use direct link, then no Phoca Download rules are applied... so the direct link is the same as link to other site... it means that the direct link links direct to the file without any Phoca Download function... if it is not direct, then it links to Phoca Download function which tells the browser that it should give the file for the download...

I was attempting to include JosDewPlayer plugin on the download page, but it would not take. Should it work there as on other article pages?
