Post by DZrenner »

I'm having several problems with sending mails to the admin when new post are generated from frontend.

1. When I use a email adress from "t-online.de" I get a error message and no mail is sent to admin:

Die folgende Absenderadresse ist nicht korrekt: d.xxxxxx@t-online.de : MAIL not accepted from server,550,You are not allowed to use the domain t-online.de as a sender domain.

SMTP-Server-Fehler: You are not allowed to use the domain t-online.de as a sender domain.

Die folgende Absenderadresse ist nicht korrekt: d.xxxxx@t-online.de : MAIL not accepted from server,550,You are not allowed to use the domain t-online.de as a sender domain.

SMTP-Server-Fehler: You are not allowed to use the domain t-online.de as a sender domain.

SMTP-Server-Fehler: You are not allowed to use the domain t-online.de as a sender domain.

2. When a mail is sent to admin (by other maildomain adresses) and i click on the link to the new guestbook entry I see the firts pade of the guestbook but not the new message.

Can someone help?
Best regards

Hi,

2) yes, the link goes to first page of guestbook (mostly the message is displayed there) as there are no numbered posts in Phoca Guestbook, so it is not set on which pagination the post is (as every have other pagination)

1) I think this should be the question on the email provider. Phoca Guestbook does not have any own solution for sending emails, this is used from Joomla! configuration, so there (in Joomla! Global Configuration) needs to be set right configuration for SMTP and of course this needs to be accepted by the service

2) The link is for the admin to publish the post. Wouldn't it be better the link goes directly to the backend to the post?

1) In Joomla I have user-registration with confirmation by the admin active. Here emails with the same adresses are sent without problems. The mailsystem seems to run correctly.

I think Phoca Guestbook tries using the email-adress in the guestbook entry as the sender mailsystem, and so it doesn' t get a connection to the mailsystem (here "t-online.de") as it has no account data.

new observations:

When I disable the field "email" in the form, it works as expected. A notice is sent to the admin for publishing.

So the email-adress entered in the form causes the failur.

Hi, did you test different email addresses in the front? Testing now, getting no such problem

Added email address and it was set normally

Yes, I tested several email adresses, only adresses with my own domain are accepted. But here no mail to the admin is sent, only a reminder to the entered adress.

When email is unvisible in the form there is no problem. The mails to the initiator and to the admin are sent. In the meanwhile I had deactivated the email in the form.

Have you tested it on my site? No I have the email active again, so you can test it there.

Hmm, then the function is working correctly, but seems there is some limit, I think this is more a question on your webhosting provieder (if there is no limit for using other than own domain email adresses)

What should the entered email adress have to do with the "sender email adress"?

In the configuration there is a sender email set and it works correctly when I deactivate the email field in the form. A email is sent right to the defined admin email adress. So I do not think it is a problem with my provider.

When the email field is activated, guestbook seems to replace the configuration email adress with the adress from the form. Or other checkings are happening with the form email adress. I don'n t know whats happening behind, because I don' t know the code. Only you know, because you have written the code and can have a look at it.

What is causing the difference between activated and deactivated email field in the form?
