[Solved]Noob needs help:thumbnails behave strange on webpage

Hi All,

We ran into a problem with Phoca Gallery for which I cannot find a solution on this forum or in the documentation.

On entering this page you will see a complete picture (somewhat square) of a blue brace on the left and two braces adjacent to it which seem to be clipped off at the edges. When you refresh the page you will notice that the brace on the left will be displayed at full height and thus clipped edges. I don't understand why this happens or how to change this behavior

The history: We had an old Joomla 1.5.26 with Phoca Gallery (can't remember which version but pretty "ancient" ) that needed to be upgraded to the latest version. We installed Joomla 3.3.4 and Phoca 4.1.1. Removed the Thumbs directory and created a few new thumbs. After a short test the problem as shown above showed.

The server is hosted by a Dutch provider

If I check the PHP info in the admin console of Joomla it states that GD is enabled and the memory limit is set to 128M

Edit: I tried to re-install Phoca and as a result I lost all configuration. So I rebuilt the categories and such and provided a new deep link

Hi, on that link, I see everything OK and if I refresh the page, I get the same result

Can you paste a screenshot what you exactly mean?

Tx for your reply. It is correct that you see nothing out of the ordinary on the page I am referring. Thing is.... we "solved" the problem

What did we do? We uninstalled the Phoca Gallery component but did not realise that it would also remove all thumbs and categories (as I said, Noob ). We regenerated all thumbs yesterday afternoon and changed a setting in Phoca to crop only large thumbnails (Phoca Gallery Control Panel -> Options -> Thumbnails -> Crop Thumbnails [set to "only large thumbnails"])

That setting works 9 out of 10 times. If a thumb is not displayed correctly we remove the thumb and regenerate. A lot of work but it seems to get the best results.

So I guess I should mark the thread solved although the solution is for from optimal
