What is the use of assert ? how it differ from a stream ?

Let me know the exact use case of assert usage. As per my understanding, Multi chain is consider as a database which is storing the data in the streams.

An asset represents something which can be owned by a particular address, and transferred to other addresses, either on its own or in exchange for other assets. It represents a popular use case for blockchains, but is very different conceptually from a stream. That's why its functionality is separated out.
