Can a specified amount of asset be sent or moved to native currency?

This question is for both directions.  Say I have native currency and I want to transfer that into an asset or vise versa I want to move asset quantity into native currency.

Also is there another way to issue native currency other than block rewards and mining?  Can native currency quantity be issued like I issue an asset?

The logic for the native currency and assets is quite different in this respect, and you cannot just translate one type of currency/asset into another. However you do have the option of performing exchanges between two blockchain users, in which one gives the other some native currency, and the other gives the first some of an asset. See the createrawexchange, etc... APIs.
