Is there a way to destroy an asset?

For example if I create an asset and then later that asset gets sent to someone with admin permissions and the asset no longer exists or exists in lower quantities.  Is there a way to reduce the amount of available asset?

Each chain has an official burnaddress (provided by the getinfo API) to which assets can be sent and cannot be recovered, because it has no corresponding private key.
