Tracy I think there is *nothing* wrong with scraplifting it exactly so that you can learn... that is awesome flattery for the original designer!  You aren't trying to pass it off as your own thing... but I bet it would be really helpful in understanding the process.  If you feel funny about it you can always try it on your own and get the hang of it and share with us when you feel you have one of your own design.

I think scraplifting them would be a great learning tool. As long as you credit them, I think it's all good. Those are awesome LO's, but so are yours!

The LO's you posted remind me of the LO's I've seen in the Somerset magazine.  Why not buy a copy and see if it tells you how they did some of them.  I think they have an Art deco, vintage kind of thing going on. I love those LO's, but I do paper not digital.  And Tracy, your LO's are the bomb!

That's what I was thinking too Jess. Breaking it down and repeating the process over and over til it sinks in.  I have to teach my geek brain to be more free.

Oh no, your not alone.  I'm in that club too.   I feel my "stuff" just doesn't compare to most of the gallery. But maybe if I spent more tiime scrapping than I do on this D#@$% computer, maybe I could come up with some good stuff.  LOL  Or not.

I'm with ya! I'll attempt a style or technique I admired in the gallery and when I do, it's just depressing. I'm nowhere near the skill level of some of these ladies! But they do inspire me to scrap more. So hopefully, I'll be there some day in the far fary away future. LOL

You can't fight your own style, Tracy. I also tend to be very linear and grid-like in my scrappy approach. I love the other look too, it's just so hard for me to do it unless I'm trying really hard and scraplifting it exactly. That's what's so great about scrapping - there are so many different styles, and none of them are wrong!

When we are inspired by others work and attempt to recreate their wonderful work it can only be seen as a compliment...I teach a scrapbook class to 3 devoted ladies...they at first copied my pages and lately they have been bringing their own styles and inspiration to the class.  It's all good.

wow!  those are gorgeous!  ok i'm a little green w/ envy.  lately i feel like all my layouts look the same.  i sit down to create w/ the intention of mixing it up but they still seem so similar.  ugh.  makes me crazy!?!  i'm thinking some scraplifting will be in order to change it a bit.

I totally get what you're saying but lately I seem to be fine with my scrapping and its the photography skill that make me jealous.  I tried to do a Elsie style cupcake photo... no go.  I go to the park and try to photograph my daughter like Jill's and it looks all misty or full of shadows.  I just can't seem to get good crisp photos lately.  Of or off manual they're just not great.Laura

I am the same way. I will be feeling really good about a LO that I did and then go to the gallery and my bubble pops!

I'm the same.  I like my work, until I "compare" it to the gallery.  Why my work more often isn't entered ...
