I'm pretty much a chronological scrapper who's way behind. And I scrap all the pics, I don't pick and choose. Why store in 2 places? (I'm talking about printed photos, like from the olden days of film.  Digital pics I'm willing to delete some. I generally don't keep pics I'm not going to print and scrap.)  I went to chrono years ago because it's just easier to put the pages in order that way and know what pages will face (so whether or not I can make a 2 page spread or if they'll end up back to back and so should not make them go across.)
The weather has zero influence on what I scrap. But if I was willy-nilly and gave myself the choice - it would be fall layouts until none were left.  Then I'd probably do beach after that. I do have a fall layout coming up, but I have to do a birthday one first. Even though the birthday is in fall, it's going to be birthday themed.
I wish I had your will power. I have like 1,000 photos of my littles simply eating a popsicle LOL The worst part is that I run out of storage n my phone so once a year I have to upload all those photos into my hard drive (which I don't always do in a timely manner) until I'm completely out of storage. Google makes you pay for storage and I'm just not willing to give up my scrapping supply money that easily lol

I scrap in chrono b/c like you, it is easier to put the pages in order. I am a "lists" person as well so naturally my brain just works better that way. I was really hoping to scrap withing the current season but I totally scrapped a summer LO today and my crafty heart is happy either way!

P.S. you got so lucky on that fall/b-day LO

It got easier to delete digital pics because of all the printed photos I already had from film days I was working through and my kids were getting older as digital became more the thing and film was phasing out. Also I get overwhelmed by digital 'clutter'. I'm not saying its always easy to narrow down the pics and I have had times with a lot of photos (and I don't really edit or print various sizes so I can't always crop down much either) and having that abundance is what starts to reign me in when you think of all the space these pages and albums take up. (Which is why I also try to get as many pics as i can on one page or two.) I've seen prolific scrapper lament on how much albums and space it's taking up. I also swap out for extra-long posts in mine (I use postbound) so my albums are thick and heavy. (Going back to that taking up space and having lots of albums conundrum.)
I don't use my phone camera much for pictures to scrap. I try and use my digital camera and if there does end up being some pics on the phone I want to keep, I eventually add them to the same SD card I use in my camera.

I started keeping a kind of list several years ago. It lets me figure out if the pictures coming up will be a single page or need multiple pages and whether or not they will wind up facing each other in the album. Because making a 2 page spread only to find out they won't fit in the album that way... aaaaaaack!! If it's unavoidable that a 'spread' would be back to back then I can just design them as stand-alone but matching pages. I scrap for both my kids so here's how that works:
I draw a vertical line dividing the paper in half with a kid's name at the top of each side. Then those columns are divided again in half for left and right sides. I put the layout in the appropriate left and/or right side. (Because I have my photos already printed, I know how many I have to work with.) And when the layouts are done I strike a line through.

Getting them into albums is a whole different ballgame!  I used to be really good at it - putting the layouts in after they were done - and then fell off the wagon years ago. Still looking for that wagon!

Hahaha Is it not amazing what all entails to scrapbook?! I love hearing about every crafter's process so Tfs! When I officially starting scrapbooking, I wasn't sure what size I was going to scrap, where I was going to start, what album I was going to use or how I was going to divide them among my littles. I just wanted to get started! I wish I would have put a little more thought into it b/c since I started, I now have 3 kiddos, a few Doodlebug 8x8 Storybook albums (which are also thick and not cheap) and at the rate I'm scrapping, I'm anticipating running out of room to display/store these albums lol

I'm not sure how I feel about duplicating pages or even scrapping the same photos for the sake of each kiddo having it in their album 🤔 Is it too much to ask my kiddos to divide the albums amongst themselves one day? Lol The designated album they will have is their baby album so, there's a win 😂

I create whatever comes to mind but I file my layouts chronologically. I love when I am inspired by a magazine, artwork, going outside and this message board. My craft room is very unorganized at the moment. I like having a nice flow of mixed media on one side of the room and scrapbooking on the other side. I may try to clean it up today since we got 5 inches of snow last night and I have today off for the holiday.
Hey! That's have I have my workspace set up for the most part! I ended up cleaning my craft room last night so I'm once again itching to get in a nice clean space and craft. There's a few things I want to reorganize but that's a task for another day lol

Yeppee! Enjoy the snow!

When I started out in the late 90's, I started out 8.5 x 11. Stuff was more readily available for that size and cheaper. (you could easily just get a binder and page protectors for one.)  The good thing about being an excellent procrastinator and was that I hadn't cut up nearly as many photos as I otherwise might have (oh, the horror!!) and when I decided to go 12 x 12 it was easier to re-do those pages and/or just put the layout onto a 12 x 12 and add a bit more. I didn't have that many to just keep those in the smaller format. And I didn't scrap chrono then. Scrapbookers have a lot more advantages now (and the past 10 - 15 years) than we did way back then!

Part of my decision to make separate albums is my mother would say we could fight over pictures after she was dead. I didn't want it to be like that for my kids. (Eventually, I actually just took all the pics with me in them and she didn't stop me. There really aren't that many photos from growing up.) Anyway, so duplicate pages just make it easier for me when I can do it that way. They're not all exactly duplicate, it just depends what I had for photos. Sometimes there's more pics of one kid than the other. If I have 2 copies (my husband didn't always get 2 prints  ) and they're both in them, it goes in both albums. Plus if one of the kids is NOT in the photo, then I generally don't use it in their album. It only goes on the page of the kid who's in the picture. (Most of the time. I have on occasion included used a pic of the other kid I think. But usually not.) So the way I divide the photos up determines if I can make an exact duplicate or not. And if I have pics with both of them but only 1 copy (because back in film days and my husband didn't order 2 sets), then I end up choosing and splitting between them.
If I wasn't where I am now, and just starting out with hindsight (or forethought?), and wanted to do just one set of albums to be split, then I'd do it in a way that would make it easier, similar to the way I have it now. I'd have the pages set so that any photos of one kid without the other would be on the pages they could take and still mix photos of the two of them into those pages. I have 2 kids though so easier to divide than having more than that.

Here's some examples on my blog about what I mean about making layouts that might be kind of duplicate but not quite because I had more pics to work with of one kid vs. the other. Or I had the same amount of pics for both pages but  they couldn't be cropped the same so had to make some changes. I try to use the same papers and things though so I'm not having to think that through again, too!

(This one is where they are almost identical - just the top layout has 1 more pic than the bottom layout on the left side.)

I keep my layouts in Chronological order, but I scrap all over the place!  LOL. Happy scrapping!

same - I scrap what I'm in the mood to. Sometimes I will get on a "theme" and do a bunch of layouts of, say fall. My "kids" are in their 40s so I have YEARS of photos to scrap. No way I could scrap chronologically!! As is - I do "try" to tay UTD with the DGKs.
