Hanukkah, anyone?
Greetings DCs.

To be honest - I am still playing catch up from my busy October & November! In 6 weeks I had a crop, a 2-week cruise, another crop and a lot of family come in for Thanksgiving (including 6 children ranging from 6 months to 12 years). I barely got my November challenges posted in time - and actually missed the deadline for one of Turkey Trots ( ). Oh well. Don't we hate it when rl interferes with scrapbooking?!?! But enough about my self-imposed craziness.

What really brought me here today was to see if there is any interest in me hosting a Hanukkah challenge again this year. Last year's challenges seemed to go over very well - with many participants - and also a great deal of comments expressing gratitude for sharing my traditions with everyone. As I mentioned last year, Hanukkah isn't really a major holiday in the Jewish tradition, so I don't think I have anything else to add to the information I already shared.

The other "fly in the ointment" is that this year Hanukkah is VERY VERY late. In fact, it doesn't even start until Christmas day. (Chrismukkah anyone??) Therefore, I don't think I could realistically offer it over the 8 days of the holiday as I did last year.

So, what I am currently envisioning would be linking to last year's eight informational posts and have the challenges be similar if not the same. I still would need to flesh out the details, and that is why I am coming to you for suggestions and input. I still need to give thought to when to post each challenge - and how long to allow for them to be completed - so your input there, knowing what a busy time of year this is for everyone, would be appreciated.

So - bottom line - who would be interested in my offering a Hanukkah challenge again this year?

Last, but certainly not least, I also wish to express my gratitude - and give a shout out - to all the hostesses offering December challenges who have made them inclusive of all faith traditions. (YOU know who you are!!!) Cherries are the best!

Definitely interested! Depending on timing of course and schedules but the later the better for me. I'm pretty sure I did some of your event last year. Whatever you come up with should be fun!

Karyn even tho I grew up with many friends with different faiths and had been to many bat and bar Mitzzvah's I still learned so much from your challenges. Keeping it the same as last year could be good for new cherries and those that missed it last year.

I loved learning about Hanukkah’s traditions in more depth, and it was awesome last year.  That being said, I sorta know the work that goes into hosting these challenges, so if it is too much, cut back, or perhaps…do a challenge(s) on the most important Jewish holiday, I would love to learn more!  I always thought Hanukkah was the biggest one.  Either way, do what is best for you, but I love it all!

I thoroughly enjoyed last year's lessons and - what I remember most - the wonderful photos of different menorahs.

Re: Hanukkah, anyone?
Maybe a kind of progressive challenge with a Hanukkah twist? Day 1 - small tag using blue or white; Day 2 - a title piece (with some sort of theme word), day 3 - long, thin strips representing candles, ...last day decorate with silver and/or gold. I dunno. I'm up for anything!

I'm always up for a challenge, but if you want to simplify things, you could just do one or two challenges! Don't stress yourself out!

I can do a challenge for one of the more important Jewish holidays, or perhaps one of the other minor but interesting holidays.  I’ll keep this in mind.

I would love to participate this year!  I didn't get a chance last year, as I had COVID for most of the month of December but I did read the post each day and learned a lot!  If a challenge for each day is a lot - maybe just one or two for the duration?

Re: Hanukkah, anyone?
I loved your challenge, and I think you have a good idea on how to implement it this year.  This year's calendar seems so strange...several of our school events/timelines are so different than they have been.  I know the calendar circles around this way every 7 years, but it has me spinning, too!  lol
