I'm ready!!
Can't wait to see all the creative goodness and add my own twist on this fun journal.
Oh my gosh, Kelly! I love the tropical look of your pages and the beautiful color palette!!!Kelly_R wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2024 4:20 pmI am finished with my 2 pages. This was so fun! All the pages are Absolutely Gorgeous and I am so glad I was able to contribute, I went all beachy/tropical
I added a hummingbird to each of Susan's pages.
I will be running errors on Wednesday and will run by the Post Office.
Love the background you created and the added stenciled texture paste - so pretty!

For those who went all out on mixed media, did you gesso your pages first?

Lis, I didn’t ! I probably should’ve because of the watercolor. I used a medium texture paste that is not as heavy or thick for these pages. After my pages dried I did weigh the book down to take out any roll .

I am delighted to report that I received the art journal! I will be sending it out tomorrow. What a delight to see all the creativity.
Here are my additions: I tucked a rose among Kelly's tropical flowers for a subtle prequel. I added a rose to the body of my butterfly in the signature gallery. You will see red roses throughout in both the elegant papers and stenciled in red glitter paste. The layout features a dancing lady, with black embossed glitter skirt and a red feather in her hair, mounted on a pop-out mechanism. There are 2 tags in hidden pockets to honor the artists and the ornate antique doors open to reveal an inspirational message.
There are so many fun details. If you look very closely you can even see a ticket and stamp cluster with some gold thread behind the dancer. There are some cherries who are responsible for turning me into a ticket fiend....

Happy you noticed. I scattered a few little things-like the tiny feather in her hair, dabs of glossy black gelly pen on the shoes, the golden tassel on the end of the door closure is only 1/2" long. I tied it from embroidery thread. Such fun to add details.
