This seems to happen every year when school starts, but I think this year, I am more behind than usual. It has been a challenging school year so far (new principal, new guidance counselor, new intervention specialists, for starters). Basically, our wonderful principal made a position change in the district, setting off a chain of dominoes. Everyone moved positions, and those of us who have been there for years are stressed! Trying to keep things going with a bunch of new, inexperienced people is hard. Top it off with a very difficult 7th grade group whose parents are still using covid as an excuse for why their kids aren't maturing 4 years later. Sorry...it was hard on all of us. Time to move on and get with the program! smh
Anyway, thanks for letting me vent, and I will tell you I am fully aware that I need to still pick MMC winners, mail out prizes, pick my monthly challenge winners and mail out prizes, make new badges for the LOTW winners from July? onward, and so on and so forth. I let it get away from me and now it's like this big thing hanging over my head. Nike says "just do it," and I will. Little by little. We just announced our spring musical today, and I can't believe it is already that time. It's going to be fun, but so. much. work! Sigh...
It's my birthday on Sunday and all I want is a stress-free weekend, but I don't think that's happening. My brother is coming to visit, which means I have to clean. Grr.... I love him, but I'd rather just do my own thing this weekend, if you kwim?
OH LAURA!!! I can only imagine what teaching school is like these days!!! Difficult parents making excuses for not teaching their kids to grow up is just ridiculous! These kids need to know how to handle life because it's rarely as easy as we want it to be! I hope you'll take some time this weekend to get some R&R. It's important for us to take care of ourselves in times like this but we often leave ourselves to the last and it's never good for us. I'll be thinking of you and praying for you Dear Cherry!!! {{{HUGS}}}
Sorry you are feeling so stressed! Sounds like Eliza Doodle needs to get to work -- puppy snuggles to the rescue! And don't worry about your ACOT to-do list. Cherries understand that life sometimes interferes with our scrappy fun.

HUGS, Laura! 🫂 AND Happy Birthday, too!
Take your time getting things in order- none of us Cherries are going anywhere LOL!
I'm sorry to hear about your job changes, though- I get it! Just keep putting one foot in front of the others- and ALWAYS vent to us when you need to!

Aww, you have so much on your plate! I hope you can take time to enjoy your birthday. I also stress about cleaning for visitors, but I keep trying to tell myself that ultimately it's the people that are important, not how clean your house is. Happy birthday!!
You need to take a deep breath and let it out easy, Laura! This board will be around and I'm sure no one minds the wait when you have so much on your plate right now. Hope things get easier as the year goes on.

As a mama to a 2020 baby, (and one who was 15 months in March of 2020)... we don't all use it as an excuse!!! If anything, it's a reason to try HARDER in my mind! Grow through what ya go though, right???
Sorry to hear you've had a rough start to the year! hopefully things will settle down soon.

So sorry for your mayhem! You are not responsible for raising other people's children, and covid is no longer an excuse, in my opinion.
Remember to lead by example, and don't let the frustration and chaos upset your mind.

Happy Birthday weekend Laura!!!
you vent all you want and get it out! I do hope that you get to have some relaxing and FUN this weekend. You know what, your brother doesn’t care about the house - he wants to see you!!! So do something to destress yourself and let yourself have some fun!
I can’t imagine teaching - and you pour so much of yourself into those kids. Kudos to you for caring - which in my opinion doesn’t always give a pass - it also holds accountable! Kwim?
anyways all good here! xxoo

To top it off, miss Eliza ate something in the yard that was bad for her and had diarrhea last Sunday and Monday, with blood in her stool! She is fine, now, but it was so stressful!

Oh, I know! We have some very awesome students with awesome parents. Unfortunately, it's the crappy ones that are the most vocal, and it MUST be the teachers' faults that their kids aren't maturing and learning, right?QueenBee89 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 8:39 pmAs a mama to a 2020 baby, (and one who was 15 months in March of 2020)... we don't all use it as an excuse!!! Breathe, sweetie! It will all get done . . . when it gets done.

OCD is not an adjective. It is not a personality quirk. It is not synonymous with being organized. It is a complex and debilitating mental health illness that affects people of all ages and walks of life, and is defined by the presence of unwanted, intrusive thoughts and repetitive actions. I am an OCD warrior and I fight for my son.
I hear you on all of those fronts, though my parents cannot blame Covid as my littles are only five. There are so many days that I just shake my head in regards to parenting choices. To each their own but sometimes it makes it very hard for us in the classroom. No worries, no rush..life happens. Hope you have a fantastic birthday weekendArt_Teacher wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 7:36 pmThis seems to happen every year when school starts, but I think this year, I am more behind than usual. It makes me so sad! As teachers, you should be focused on learning & hopefully having fun with the kids! We're going through this with my son's Kindergarten class... his teacher is spending most of her time putting out behavioral fires & the good kids are suffering - my little man is starting to realize it too, he keeps telling me he's tired from all his classmates being bad. Breaks my heart!Art_Teacher wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 9:59 amOh, I know! We have some very awesome students with awesome parents. LOL...he invited himself. It's what he does...they live 2 hours away. He likes to come home on Fall weekends for Buckeye's games. I know this, but it is usually last minute. He has to work on Saturdays a lot, because he is a high school athletic trainer. This was his chance between football (because their team didn't make the playoffs) and basketball. At least he didn't bring my SIL and his boys!
I am getting to the end of my career and always trying to keep my mouth shut! LOL

I hope you're having a great birthday today! (((Hugs))) on the school issues - I know changes in personnel can really be hard and shake things up. Hope it all settles down soon. You sound like me with the "I'll get to that when baseball season ends" and here I am still running to stand still. Take your time with everything - we all know that life is what happens when you're making other plans and trying to scrap LOL!
