TICKETS--What do YOU do with them?
I ordered the 49 & Market mystery box because I love the beautiful quality paper collections. I am mostly a card maker and trying to get more mixed media projects going.

I got 4 boxes of tickets-lagoon, plum, salsa and stone. I am at a loss as to how to use up SO MANY TICKETS. I'd love ideas and examples of how YOU use tickets.

I made this simple card and used a ticket style die to cut the sentiment panel. I thought that would give some continuity to adding these random tickets. I typically associate tickets with travel or a special entertainment event (movie, show, concert). My mind is blank about using them on cards.

I can imagine using for retirement, honeymoon, bon voyage. But how often do I make that sort of card in a year? 1-2?
Maybe random bits of color in a decorative cluster of elements? Decorate the back of an envelope with the stamp style?

Any ideas are appreciated.

Re: TICKETS--What do YOU do with them?
Well, truth be told, I'd rather have tickets than the million stamps (like postage stamps) that were in my box!

Tickets...you could:
  • Use them like mini filmstrips (instead of photos, you could create little vignettes with stamps (hah!) or doodles, or stickers)
  • Make a frame with them (like a photo mat and make them look less ticket-like with bits of greenery, flowers, ephemera
  • Use a few of them as a base for an ephemera cluster
  • Mix media them (gesso is a blessing!) <-- I will have to do this with the pumpkin orange box of tickets and stamps.

That's all I can think of for now. Why whyyyyy are there so many postage stamps on the roll!?!?!?!?!

Re: TICKETS--What do YOU do with them?
Each of the 4 boxes I received had 3 rolls inside: 2 were tickets and the 3rd was stamps. So, total of 8 rolls of tickets and 4 rolls of stamps.

I would have appreciated 1 box, maybe 2 tops, but getting 4 boxes seems like they are trying to unload an unpopular item in the mystery box. Just my opinion.

Re: TICKETS--What do YOU do with them?
I tuck them under layers and use them as if they were just an ordinary piece of cardstock/diecut.  Try not to think travel  or anything with a beginning or end, that's making them a "themed" piece, when it can also be just a layer.  Have fun!!

Ps  I've never had any luck with so called "mystery boxes", and not just with scrapbook products either.

I haven’t used any on cards but I used them a lot this month since the October Team Challenge has tickets on the stash list. I like using them in a cluster.

Could you adhere rows of stamps on paper then cut out panels to use as a background or layer on a card?

Use them as a frame for your sentiment?

Use all 4 colors in rows down the card front?

Re: TICKETS--What do YOU do with them?
Cute card, Dr Sonja! I LOVE the way you layered the elements!
I love the ticket die, too!
I personally love using tickets and I feel like I love to cluster and layer them with other papers/embellishments. A LOT of times I'll put words/images on them. I think of travel, yes, but I also think about raffle tickets, and finding random tickets and tickets on clothes or whatever and idk I think ephemeral sometimes. I love to mix tickets with labels and stamps, too, or other icons.
They look great layered under or near photos, and as cluster or title bases.
You can create a background by layering them.
I also like them in my art journals, collage and altered art projects.
Alternatively, if you're tired of the look of tickets for a while, maybe put them away for a bit? They'll probably give you a little more inspiration when you pull them out again! 😉

I do have some papers that are tickets and stamps, which I love, but I also have stamps and dies to create my own sometimes. (I love creating those types of embellishments!) I have wanted to get some MORE 49 and Market products, but these days my budget is sooo tight! 🤣🤷‍♀️

I use the tickets and stamps (usually from the ephemera packs, not the full box) as added layers in embellishment clusters on my layouts. I would imagine you could do the same, like you said, as a pop of color in a cluster!
