Thank you for all your well wishes and prayers Cherries. I moved from the west coast of Florida after 20 years. I am now on the east coast of Florida north of Orlando. Wind will be an issue here but I am far enough away from the beach (6 miles) west so thankfully no evacuation from flooding.First time in this house but I have awesome neighbors many who I just met today that have come together to help. So grateful.I have prepped and now hope to get some challenges posted before I lose power tomorrow. I will be thinking of all my fellow Floridian Cherries. Stay safe.

Sue, I thought I remembered you mentioning a sister in the Tampa area.  Hope all is ok for her, please let us know, that’s a very concerning area for this storm

My apologies to the Team Challenge cherries. I have evacuated my home and won't be able to be crafty until we get back after the storm passes. We got everything shuttered up and braced for the high winds before we left. Not much can be done if there is flooding, so keeping fingers crossed (as the saying goes-I'm not superstitious IRL) for that part. We do the best we can, then wait and see. Deal with the dust, or mud, when it settles.

So glad you were able to evacuate!  No worries at all about challenges. Your safety is way more important!

Karen, sounds like you made the right decision to move inland! Orlando and Kissimmee can get hit but not usually as often as the coastal areas do. I’m remembering Hurricane Charlie about 20 years ago!

aww thank you ! It’s so strange but the zone she is in is a non evacuation zone. I just talked to her, she is ready and of course just waiting  for landfall tonight. She said it started raining about 3:30 am .  
this one is scary ( not that all of them aren’t  but it being a 5 ohmygoodness!)

I'm here in Orlando with straight rain. Our lake is up about 4 feet already because of the last hurricane. We are trying to secure everything, use internet and cooking. Don't know what to expect with this one.

I just got done texting my cousin also in Cape Coral!  I told her this one looks horrible and to head to her daughters home on the East Coast of FL, but that's looking like this one may hit both sides as it crosses the state.  Hospital or no hospital, if you get told to go, evacuate.  Enough people will end up stuck at the hospital until you can safely get back in - yes, someone who was stuck in 1972 in a hospital during a hurricane.

Your prayers are cherished. Thank you! Prayer for wisdom and protection for all of Florida, is first and foremost! Tons of huge wind gusts (now up to 55 mph) and straight rain. Prep started days ago. Showered and dressed this morning and stayed home!!!!! Maybe my last shower so thought I'd "play" in my scraproom as we cook, wash everything from clothes to dishes, cleaned, and prepared for the hurricane. Waiting and Trusting God for protection! Really makes you realize your priorities.
